Dr. Horwat earned his degree in dentistry from the University of Pittsburgh, School of Dental Medicine (SDM), in 2004.
After receiving his DMD he practiced general dentistry in Maryland for six years, focusing on cosmetic and esthetic dentistry. Having a niche for endodontics, however, he then went back to the University of Pittsburgh (SDM) and completed his post-doctoral training in endodontics and received his specialty license.
Concurrent with his residency in Pittsburgh, he provided (surgical) endodontic care voluntarily at the Veterans Administration (VA) Hospital, and he was also awarded a certificate in recognition for providing dental care in underprivileged communities.
Dr. Horwat is passionate about endodontics and he is sympathetic to his patients concerns. He takes the time to listen to his patients and understand their concerns, making every effort to minimize anxiety and ensure that the patient experience is as pleasant and peaceful as possible.
Dr. Horwat enjoys his profession and works meticulously on his craft, understanding that in endodontics, precision optimizes success. He incorporates a surgical operating microscope and 3-D imaging (CBCT) technology with every case, while utilizing the latest in digital office technology. He is known by his peers as being amongst the top clinicians in the industry. He has been voted onto Nashville’s Top Dentist’s list in Nashville Lifestyles Magazine year after year and he has been invited on News channel 5’s OpenLine: Ask the Expert numerous times. Dr. Horwat also prides himself as a lifelong student, staying current with endodontic literature and its evolving philosophy to be sure that he practices under the most modern, proven, developments so that he can provide his patients with the highest quality patient care.
His research regarding Genetic Influence on Endodontic Healing has been published in the Journal of Endodontics (JOE), Feb 2012, and he has lectured his research at various forums.
Currently, he is a proud member of the American Association of Endodontics (AAE), the American Dental Association (ADA), the Tennessee Dental Association (TDA), Nashville Dental Society; and numerous local dental study clubs.
Dr. Horwat is a proud man of faith and has been blessed with an amazing wife and four wonderful children. While he mostly loves spending quality time with his family, he has a growing list of hobbies – Playing the drums and guitar, writing music, enjoying live musical performances, gardening, cooking, house projects, watching NFL; and looks for any excuse to spend time outdoors.
